Abortion in military medical facilities

House Roll Call No. 136
109th Congress, 2nd Session

Failed: 191-237 (see complete tally)

Current law prohibits the use of U.S. military medical facilities for abortion, except to save the life of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest. During consideration of the Fiscal Year 2007 Defense Authorization bill (H.R. 5122), Congressman Rob Andrews (D-NJ) offered an amendment to repeal this ban as applied to overseas facilities.  NRLC opposed the amendment, and the amendment failed, 191 to 237. Roll Call No. 136, May 10, 2006.
