Abortion in military medical facilities

House Roll Call No. 216
109th Congress, 1st Session

Failed: 194-233 (see complete tally)

Current law prohibits the use of U.S. military medical facilities for abortion, except to save the life of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest. During consideration of the Fiscal Year 2006 Defense Authorization bill (H.R. 1815), Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-Ca.) offered an amendment to repeal this ban as applied to overseas facilities.  NRLC opposed the amendment, and the amendment failed, 194 to 233. Roll Call No. 216, May 25, 2005.
